At the young age of seventeen whilst studying at a comprehensive school, I started out working in TK Maxx on the tills every Saturday and Sunday instead of studying for my A levels, (I can still feel that tight red polo neck π’). I worked my way up from TK Maxx to interviewing Jonathan Groff for Netflix!! π€ (Ambitious woman from humble origins life story alert). π»
I worked as a costume assistant for You Me Bum Bum Train, an immersive theatrical experience in London in 2016, where I managed the costumes for over fifty actors.
I have worked as a dressmaker for years and trained in editorial and fashion styling at The London College of Fashion.
I trained in Advanced Clothes Construction and Pattern Cutting at Morley College.
Iβve always been interested in clothes and combined with an artistic streak and a stylish eye, I can now create any garment from scratch on my sewing machine. I always know what fabrics and cut will suit different figures. Iβm particularly good at putting together, sourcing, thrifting or making an outfit on a budget because I was brought up on one!
After two years as a successful film critic and celebrity interviewer interviewing famous actors, writers and directors on behalf of Disney, Sky One and Netflix, I now am channelling my creativity into costume design. I was trusted by Netflix and Sky One to interview actors in different countries such as Hungary, Germany and France. They paid for my flights and hotels and paid me to interview A list actors proving that I can be trusted with a lot of responsibility and pressure.
Iβm currently preparing my costume design portfolio! Watch this space. π π‘π
